My girls are obsessed with perler beads right now. Here's a cute rainbow we came up with.

heart door mat
I think it's pretty obvious that I have an obsession with hearts. I came across a door mat that I loved and while at Ikea one day I found the perfect rug to use for it. This rug was $4.99...can't beat that, plus it has a nice rubber backing on it that keeps in it place on our porch.
I cut a heart out of vinyl and centered it on the rug.
You could easily use paper, the vinyl didn't even stick to the rug.
Using a sponge brush and paint work from the outside in, as long as you aren't pushing brush strokes outward the stencil will work great.
It was difficult to get a solid coat with this rug but it looks like it's supposed to be that way anyway.
I let it dry over night and then put it out on our porch. I love it!
A happy little mat for our front porch :)
Happy Monday!

craft room progress
We moved into our new house February 15th and I am slowly making progress on decorations. My sister in law had a great idea to cover a bulletin board in fabric and ever since she made hers I have wanted to make one. Well I finally got around to it and I love it! I still need to add more fun things to it but so far, I love it!
I started with a plain bulletin board (terrible pictures!)
I wrapped fabric around it and stapled it to the back. My sister in law used spray adhesive which I think works equally as well.
I want mine to be more of a piece of art than functional.
What do you have on your bulletin board?

And here it is hung up with a few things on it. It now lives above my sewing desk and adds a little happy to the room. I am determined to get some little flowers for the bucket! I downloaded this free printable and colored it in. I've added a little garland to the top since taking this picture and that really added to the "cuteness".

2013 planner
I just downloaded Lori Whitlock's 2013 planner and I cannot wait to print it out and put it together!!
It's half price today at jessicasrague.com, only $6.50 for the whole printable planner.
I'll for sure be adding some dividers using my CAMEO and some cute scrapbook paper.
Hopefully I can get it put together before too long since it's already January 2! Can't wait to show you how it turns out!
Here's to getting more organized this year...

Glitter Felt Halloween Wreath
Hello again! I have a more exciting post to share with you today—this one is actually fun to do, unlike cleaning. I was at Joann the other day (which, by the way, I hate just saying Joann, I always call it Joann’s because it just sounds better) buying fabric and what not. When I took my ticket for the cutting counter, I noticed they were on number 3, and my number was 17…so I had some waiting to do. Which could be good or bad at Joann. Joann’s. Joann Fabrics? So I started walking around the aisles that were close by the cutting counter, and came across some glitter felt by-the-yard. I immediately knew I wanted to get some—not sure what I would use it for, but knew I would put it to use somehow. I grabbed some in white and black, but I have a feeling I’ll be going back before Saturday (because it’s 40% off till then!) to get some more colors.
Then, a few days ago, I saw this cute little wreath from the crafty Jen at Tatertots & Jello:
I loved the scallop idea and remembered my glitter felt I had just bought, and couldn’t wait to get started!
If you happen to want to make an exact replica of this wreath, here is what you’ll need:
Supplies
16 inch Styrofoam wreath (mine has the squared edges)
¼ yard each-black glitter & white glitter felt (but you might as well get the whole yard!)
3 sheets of orange felt
Black satin ribbon—1 ½ inch wide, about 24 inches long
Black twine, about 8 inches long
Printable scallop pattern from Tatertots & Jello LINK HERE
Hot glue gun
Scissors
Sewing pins
I first printed the scallop pattern on cardstock and cut all three of them out. Then get your pretty black glitter felt out
and lay it out so you can pin the three scallops to it. I doubled up the felt to make the cutting process faster.
I started cutting the felt in one continuous strip because at first I was only going to use the black felt, but then decided I wanted orange and white too so I cut the strip so there were four scallops in each strip, just like the pattern. On my wreath I used 14 strips of each color, with 4 scallops in each strip. Repeat with the orange and white felt. (For the orange felt sheets, I stacked all three pieces together and cut the scallops across the width—from one long end to the other. The scallops were a little bigger than the sheet but it still worked.) Then start wrapping each piece of felt around the wreath,
and glue them in the back.
Continue this pattern all the way around the wreath.
At this point I wasn’t sure what I wanted to add to it. Then I came across this picture:
I liked the idea but wanted a cuter spider. I like Halloween, but not the gory, spooky, scary stuff—I like the cutesie, fun stuff. So I pulled up my handy Silhouette Studio and found a spider shape that I liked, and made it as big as the page.
After cutting the spider out of paper I pinned it to the black felt
and cut it out with the extra felt for the legs to attach to the wreath.
Then I cut the eyes out of the white felt, and the little eyeballs from the black and glued them onto the spider. I placed the spider face up on my table and the wreath face up over it to get an idea of the placement of the spider. Then I took the wreath off and carefully added some hot glue to the ends of the legs and placed the wreath back on top to attach it. A view from the back
and a view from the front
Next wrap your ribbon around the top of the wreath. I glued a little piece to the wreath itself so it would stay, then glued the ends together at the top. Then carefully glue the piece of twine to the back of the ribbon and the spider.
Then for the bow tie for the top of the ribbon, I cut 2 pieces of the white felt, one is 3”x9”, the other is 1”x4”. Fold each of the short ends of the 3x9 piece 2 inches to the back and glue down.
Then pinch it in the middle and fold down the long ends to make it look like a bow.
I put little dabs of glue in between the folds to hold the shape. Then wrap the 1x4 piece around the middle and secure in the back with glue.
Cut a small slit in the top of your ribbon, about 1 ½ inches from the top—this is where the wreath holder will go through. If you’re not using a wreath holder just skip this step! Glue the bow tie right underneath the slit.
Then attach to your wreath holder and you’re done!

15 minute fall garland
At the store the other day I saw some beautiful white pumpkins. I really love this time of year!
After making my little scarecrow the other day I got on a little craft kick. I made this garland in about 15 minutes, it was really easy. I downloaded a few shapes from the Silhouette Online Store, drew a circle around each one and added 2 small circles for stringing on a garland. After cutting them out I used a little distressing ink on the edges then strung them on some twine and that was it.
Here's what my screen looked like in Silhouette Studio
And the finished garland
Happy Fall!!

fall decor
I saw this exact project on my coworker's desk yesterday and fell in love! I work at Silhouette and my sweet coworker does all the projects for the Silhouette blog. I went out yesterday after work and bought everything I needed for this project.
If you have a Silhouette machine you should go grab the scarecrow shape from the Online Store because it's the free shape this week!
I love having a little fall decor in my house,
it's truly feeling like fall here in Utah and I couldn't be happier!

re-useable snack bags
I saw something similar to these on a blog a few days ago and knew I could make them.
These re-usable snack bags are great for dry snacks but also work for food like grapes. The fabric for these is super cheap. I bought 1/3 yard at Joann and it cost $.60. Pretty cheap huh?
One thing I love about these is that they don't use velcro, they are easy to wipe clean
One thing I love about these is that they don't use velcro, they are easy to wipe clean
and super easy to make. Here's a little tutorial so you can make them on your own.
Items needed:
1/3 yard utility fabric (see picture below)
sewing necessities (machine, thread, etc.)
This is utility fabric, it's the same thing all the re-usable grocery bags are made out of. It's about $2.99 per yard, the only bummer with this is that stores tend to not have many options with prints/patterns.
Cut strips of fabric 12"x6", your fabric should already be 12" wide if you bought 1/3 yard.
Zigzag stitch or serge the bottom side
This picture is a little confusing, I folded the top half down 5 inches and turned it over so the pattern faced up on the front side.
You can play around with it depending on which direction your pattern faces.
Fold the other part over the front so they over lap an inch or 2 and pin closed.
Zigzag stitch or serge down both sides
And you're done!
Very easy right? I went back and double stitched the sides just to re-enforce the stitching. If you serged it there is no need to double stitch.
If you aren't familiar with the baggies that fold over themselves like these, here are 2 pictures of what they look like folded open.
Fill it up and fold it closed again!
Enjoy!

spruce up a pencil cup with vinyl
I found a cute plain pencil cup at Target the other day and knew
I could do something to it to spruce it up.
Using my CAMEO, I cut some white vinyl and made it a fun piece to have at my desk.
